Our Man In Japan

Not just a geek, but casual trainspotter too

A new prototype Shinkansen is being developed with air-brakes that look like ears. How long before teh special edition 'Mickey' versions start rolling out?

I'm waiting for the Mag-lev Shinkansen that I saw at the Aichi Expo in March.

hey martie, are you talking about the 'linimo'? the one that magnetically floats on the tracks? or are you talking about something they had in the 'jr pavillion'? (i never went in there...line was too long!)

Not the 'Linimo', though that is a mag-lev train.

The mag-lev Shink was outside the JR pavillion. You could walk through one of the carriges and you could see videos about it. It truely looked futuristic which got the geek in me all excited!

i'm driving down with hit, kate, kat and emma B tomorrow! but not sure i'll go to the expo this time as giovanni probably doesn't want to spend his one day off there! but i'll probably be heading back again in a couple of weeks so might go then, as well as in august when my parents are here.
right i remember that train, though didn't go in it.

me again,
just browsing through your pics and came across the one of the little boy with such a striking look on his face, clutching the miffy(?) doll like it is his saving grace. it's absolutely amazing, i could look at it for hours. do you mind if i post it on my blog (with props to you of course)?

Of course you can use the pic. It'd be great if you could link it back to my site but just my name would be cool.

The little guy was so adorable. I've got a few photos of him, all clutching his wee miffy doll. Bless!

No worries. I'm perfectly happy with my inner geek, so much so I'm proud to let people know about it.
In fact, so proud I'll tell you that last night I was doing 'geek revision' buy watching the previous Star Wars films. Episode 3 is only days away now!!
